Sonia Lai is a Bay Area illustrator whose work incorporates a striking mix of ukiyo-e, art nouveau, and graphic elements.
She is most noted for her book covers on the Dune series with Tor Books, for which she received a gold medal from the Society of Illustrators (LA). She has also been recognized by 3x3, Communication Arts, and Creative Quarterly. Past clients include Tor Books, Simon & Schuster, Macmillan Children's Publishing Group, Harper Collins, and Bloomsbury.
Outside of art, she works as a Nurse Practitioner and enjoys the unique challenges of balancing art, medicine, and getting enough sleep.
