My name is Jeff Matkovich, and I am an artist in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I started my art a bit later in life and went to the Academy of Art University online in my thirties. During this time, I first came across the art of Greg Manchess and wanted to study with him. During the in-between time, I continued to draw and paint while I was doing maintenance tech/renovations. Smart School making it possible to study with such masters, in 2022, I finally did my first class, Portraits as Story, with Greg Manchess. In 2023 I followed up with the first time offered class, Composition as Story with Greg Manchess.
I mostly work in traditional mediums, such as oils and charcoal, but also enjoy Procreate and the digital world. I definitely lean towards portraiture as I strive to capture the character and personality of each portrait. Life is full of great things to paint and bring to life. As for the future, who knows, I continue to draw and paint and enjoy each opportunity.
