Drawing intensive
Start here! We call this class an intensive but it is a welcoming class for artists of all levels to dig in and truly advance their drawing. Everyone can get better at this fundamental skill. In this class you improve in a way that only happens under the steady guidance of a supportive and accomplished teacher and with the focus that a 14 week learning environment provides. Drawing the figure is an essential skill for narrative art and illustration. We highly recommend that you start here if you are new to art, if you are self taught, or if you have not had an intensive figure drawing class before.
This class is designed to build an understanding of the draftsmanship of the human form for narrative artworks and illustration. Each student gets rigorous weekly assignments based on a combination of the traditional teaching technique 'Bargue Cours de Design' and other sources. Students receive in-depth personal feedback every week and interactive demonstrations tailored to their ability level.
We believe that we're on the right track with this method because of past student's success. Our process also builds upon the most popular way of teaching figure drawing in 19th century Europe. Vincent Van Gogh wrote eloquently about the Bargue method in his letters "...day by day it makes my hand as well as my mind more supple and strong. Those studies are excellent."
