Gaming Illustration and Character Design

The field of gaming illustration is continually expanding. If you want to be part of it there are specific things you need to know. In this class you will build strong portfolio pieces. You will gain knowledge about the gaming business as Winona walks you through the process of creating industry-specific artwork.
Winona will work one-on-one with each student through specific assignments and weekly individual draw-overs and critiques.

Towards the end of the semester student's work will be reviewed by Lake Hurwitz, Principal Artist for Wizards of the Coast Franchise Development.

After taking this class students will also receive a free profile on the Smarter Art Market

About Winona Nelson

Winona is a celebrated voice in illustration. Her work is featured extensively in both video and table top games. She has created over 137 cards and tokens to date for the game Magic: the Gathering. Her other clients include: Warhammer, Fantasy Flight, Games Workshop, Flagship Studios, Planet Moon Studios, Kabam, Final Form Games, Naughty Dog, and Aftershock. Winona believes the key to a long-lived career in gaming is not only fulfilling a client's prompts, but by digging more deeply into your individuality to include your own voice. The goal is to go beyond delivering professional level illustrations, to create something your client and your audience cannot get from any other artist.
