*SmArt School teachers sometimes have to travel for professional reasons. If they must miss a class they will notify all students during class time and add a session to the end of the calendar. No class is held during Thanksgiving, Illuxcon Week**, or between Christmas and New Years. All Classes meet live and are not recorded due to proprietary content. Teaching will not happen via email, only during class time.
**At the time of the spring enrollment, ILLUXCON was still planning to meet, but has since been cancelled-check in with your individual teacher when classes begin to fin out if they will teach through this week or be staying with the above week off.

Mythology & Narrative Painting
This class will focus on mythological painting for both publishing and private commissions. Digital and traditional media are welcome. Donato offers instruction in painting techniques as well as professional practices. He will cover the business of working as an illustrator as well as insights into generating private commissions. The mentorship will include extensive critiques, lectures, and presentations on painting and narrative image creation as well as discussions covering contracts, self promotion, and client negotiations. Towards the end of the semester Donato will introduce the class to an industry professional who will give feedback to the students about their work.
After taking this class students will also receive a free profile on the Smarter Art Market, a destination for art directors and collectors.
