Charis Loke is a book and editorial illustrator living and working in Penang, Malaysia. Drawing upon literature and visual culture, she evokes wonder and curiosity through thoughtful images. Her work is rooted in Southeast Asian culture and influenced by traditions of speculative fiction. Currently, Charis is writing and drawing an illustrated microfiction collection as well as designing geeky traditional garments based on books, film, and video games. She's also the Comics and Illustrations Editor at New Naratif, where she works with artists from all over Southeast Asia and the diasporas. On lazy afternoons she reads SFF & YA fiction and thinks about the power of fandom.
