Artist Bio
Hi, my name is Annemieke and I’m a Belgium-based traditional illustrator. My creative universe has been expanding since early childhood, regularly teaching myself new skills ranging from painting in various media, to bookbinding, to sewing and costume design. My work lives in the supernatural realm, drawing inspiration from folklore, fairytales, mythology and fantasy.
I strive to find a certain feeling of timelessness and a connection to the natural world in my work whilst often including some personal symbolism. Relying on my formal training in graphic storytelling and architecture, as well as my self-taught skills, I am creating a mystical world which connects dreams, emotions and Northern European spirituality with a modern visual expression.
